As someone in the health care field, it is easier to care for others you don’t have a relationship with – now I need help figuring out how to care for a loved one.
This program provides information, resources and referrals for services to seniors and their caregivers. These services reduce caregiver stress and provide older adults with information and access to services to assure they can "age in place" successfully. Areas the advocate may assist with include application assistance with financial programs, homecare and support group resources, healthcare directive completion, food programs, issues related to caring for someone living with dementia.
Advocates can assist in many different ways including converstions via phone, home visit or a family meeting.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers Classes:
A free class to assist the caregiver care for themselves while caring for older adults/spouse. The class meets once a week for six weeks and participants receive a caregiver handbook with very helpful information.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers for Businesses Classes:
A free class as described above however meets once a week for six weeks for only 90 minutes usually during lunch break or in the mid afternoon. This class has been proven to prevent and reduce work absenteeism. Check back for future dates.
Caregivers must be caring for a person over the age of 60. One person within the caregiving/senior circle must live within Goodhue, Rice or Wabasha Counties.
Matter of Balance Classes: A free class to address ones fear of falling and improve strength and balance through excercise.
