Spring Creek II Groundbreaking - August 24th @3:30pm

Northfield, MN Three Rivers Community Action, a regional nonprofit organization, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new 32-unit townhome development in Northfield, MN called Spring Creek II on Wednesday, August 24th at 3:30pm at 2200 Millstream Lane (at the west end of the existing Spring Creek Townhomes cul-de-sac of Southbridge Drive). This brief outdoor gathering at the active project construction site will include comments from the project team, funders and community partners followed by celebratory groundbreaking photos together!

As the developer of Spring Creek II, Three Rivers has been working with the Northfield HRA for over three years to create more affordable rental housing options on the HRA-owned Southbridge site. Due to the success of Three Rivers’ original Spring Creek project (2013), together the HRA and Three Rivers developed Spring Creek II as an expansion to this existing local affordable housing option. Spring Creek II will contain 32 units of affordable rental housing in five attractive townhome buildings for families. The project will also include 4 units for families that have experienced homelessness and 4 units for persons with disabilities, in partnership with South Central Human Relations Center (SCHRC), the Laura Baker Services Association and Rice County. The project was awarded funding through the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Multifamily funding competition and received 4% tax credits, state bonds, a deferred HOME loan and a first mortgage from Minnesota Housing. Project funders also include Minnesota Equity Fund/Cinnaire, Greater Minnesota Housing Fund, City of Northfield, Northfield HRA, Rice County and the Rice County HRA.

Construction on Spring Creek II is underway this month and will be completed by end of next summer! Weis Builders Inc is the general contractor for the project and Blumentals Inc is the project architect.
