Energy Assistance Program - We are continuing to provide Energy Assistance during this time. The deadline for households to apply for EAP benefits has been changed to July 1, 2020. Households applying today through July 1, 2020 now only need to provide one month income. This also applies to denied households who sign a new signature page with a signature date of April 1, 2020 through July 1, 2020.

Due to construction at our Zumbrota office it is difficult to get to our drop box near the front door. If you have documents to drop off at our Zumbrota office please call 800-277-8418 so the Zumbrota Administrative Assistant can go out to your car and get the documents from you. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Head Start: Head Start will start virtual summer school for 5 weeks starting July 20th connecting remotely to support families and continue learning.
Early Head Start Home Visiting: Early Head Start home visitors are providing weekly video and phone visits the families.
Northfield Child Care Center is planning to reopen June 24th.
Homebuyer Education/Counseling & Gap Financing
Our Achieve Homeownership program and Gap Financing Program (Downpayment/Closing cost assistance) are open and accepting new clients/applicants. Staff can do all paperwork remotely.
Hiawathaland Transit is making temporary service adjustments. Starting Monday March 30, all regular routes in Faribault, Northfield and Red Wing will be suspended, and public transit will be provided through Dial-A-Ride only. The hours of service will be as follows:
Faribault – Monday – Friday 6 am – 6 pm / Saturday 12 pm – 5 pm
Northfield - Monday – Friday 6 am – 9 pm / Saturday 7 am – 5 pm
Red Wing - Monday – Friday 4:30 am – 9 pm / Saturday & Sunday 7 am – 5 pm
Riders wishing to access Hiawathaland public transit services must call dispatch at 866-623-7505 x1 to schedule their ride with one of our dispatch team members. Riders can schedule up to 6 days in advance or on the same day. In our route towns of Faribault, Red Wing and Northfield during normal route operating times of Mon-Fri 6am-6pm, fares will be $1.25 per ride, before and after 6pm Monday-Friday and on weekends the fare will be $1.75 (DAR fare). When applicable, monthly route passes are still accepted (M-F 6am-6pm).
In collaboration with the CDC and State of Minnesota’s efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, we are asking any passenger with symptoms to please stay home. All passengers are asked to wear a face covering while riding the bus and maintain a six foot distance from the driver and other passengers. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to helping you with your transportation needs.
Finger Printing Service: Beginning Monday, June 15, 2020 our Plainview office will be open by appointment only for finger printing services. Only 1 visitor is permitted in the building at a time, a mask must be worn, and there are no public restrooms available. Please call 866-623-7505 to schedule an appointment.
Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels): Older Adults continue to receive Home Delivered Meals weekdays. Volunteers are wearing gloves and masks and avoiding person to person contact. The delivery of a second “cold lunch” in addition to the hot meal continues for clients who have shown interest.
Housing Assistance: All of our housing assistance and homeless prevention programs are continuing to operate and screen for eligible households. Staff are able to complete paperwork remotely or 1:1 via scheduled appointment when requested.
