The National Head Start Association is pleased to announce the 2009-10 Scholarships and Awards, which recognize deserving individuals for exceptional service to Head Start. Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. is a member of the Minnesota Head Start Association (MHSA) and the National Head Start Association (NHSA). Therefore, we have the opportunity to select local winners to be sent to the state level of consideration. Winners at the state level are forwarded to the regional level and possibly the national level. Three Rivers Head Start and other Minnesota applicants have done very well at State, Regional and National levels with multiple winners over the past several years.

Ashleigh Davis, from Pine Island wins state, regional and national award and scholarships from Head Start. As a preschooler, Ashleigh attended Three Rivers Community Action, Inc.'s Head Start program. Upon graduation from high school she became eligible for the National Head Start Association Awards and Scholarships. This past year she applied for and won a $500 scholarship from the Minnesota Head Start Association, was recognized for accomplishments from the Region V Head Start Association (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois) and the National Head Start Association Phyllis J. Jones Memorial Scholarship of $1,500. Ashleigh was presented her award on May 1, 2009 in Orlando Florida. Ashleigh is currently attending RCTC majoring in nursing and continues to volunteer in Head Start. Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. Board members congratulate Ashleigh on her accomplishments at their May Board of Director's meeting.
