Effective January 1, 2009, Three Rivers Community Action no longer offers the Wabasha County Senior Volunteer Transportation Program. Due to the high costs associated with transportation and limited funding; we are no longer coordinating volunteer drivers or reimbursing mileage.
We have made several changes to our public transportation system in order to accommodate the needs of senior residents of Wabasha County. Hiawathaland Transit now offers punch passes for $5.00 each. This is a $12.50 savings to the senior consumer. Individuals may purchase the punch passes at the reduced cost by contacting dispatch toll free at 1-866-623-7505. Please note that you will not be able to buy the reduced cost passes at your local city hall. They must be purchased by calling the toll free number listed above. The only requirements for those wishing to purchase reduced cost passes are that they participant must be 60+ years old and be a resident of Wabasha County. Demographic information will be collected at time of purchase for reporting purposes only.
We will try to accommodate as many requests as possible. We are no longer providing rides to Rochester and Winona. We encourage those who have those transportation requests to contact Faith-in-Action, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and/or R&S for assistance.
On a separate note, in an effort to better connect our communities in Wabasha County, we now offer 3 different opportunities to travel to and from the city of Wabasha. The information on each service is provided below. The cost to ride from city to city will be $3.50. Individuals must pay the standard $1.75 fare in each town once they arrive. Please note that each service will operate on a call in only basis. You must call and schedule a ride and the return trip. Our buses will not be stopping if there are no rides scheduled. Please let other interested individuals know about these opportunities. Anyone may ride the bus to the designated communities and back. There are no age restrictions, ect.
